Hello, looking for some help, was replacing the handlebars on my Boardwalk and when I removed the front brake reservoir this part jumped out? Not sure exactly where it goes or what its function is? thanks

If you don’t have a parts catalog check out one of the web sites with exploded diagrams. Here’s one:

  3. @Choice1963 Looks like the brake light switch

Not a switch. It sits on the bottom of the front brake master cylinder reservoir. It covers the fluid return hole so the fluid stays in the fluid, if that makes sense. If I remember correctly, the little tips go down. You’ll see how it fits when you put it back in.

  5. Sorry I may have misspoke but I’m 99% it triggers the brake lights

And I could be wrong, old age memory and all. To the OP, Choice 1963, did you have the reservoir cap off when you took it off the bike? If not, then it must be the brake light piece, sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the responses, I believe Denny is correct and it is a deflector for the compensating port on the cylinder. My problem is not sure which direction the tabs go, up or down? The picture I have from the manual is very poor (re-copy).
